Skiing Mount 7.. in the nude!

July 9, 2022

When I met Neva a year ago, something I thought was hilariously cool but kinda crazy about her is that she skied this peak called Mount 7.. naked! With her mom! And although I thought this was wild, she really talked it up and convinced me that somehow I could do it too. However when I showed up in Golden for our annual trip together, the conditions for this epic line were already looking pretty thin.

Mount 7 and its ski line are named because each year when the snow melts out, it forms this perfect 7 shape near the summit. However at some point in the year, part of the 7 line becomes too narrow or separates entirely, meaning you can’t ski a continuous line without hitting rocks.

We decided that we had maybe a single day to get it done before it was truly melted, and even in these conditions we knew it would be quite a thin and steep line! So on the first morning after I arrived (and of course after sleeping in and making crepes in typical Neva / Andrea style), we set off for the mountain. Neva’s family kindly lent me a pair of rock skis so I wouldn’t have to wreck my only skis, and her dad fit them up to my ski boots.

We pulled up to the mountain in style in Neva’s family taco, and outfitted our skis into A-frames on our bags with ski boots clipped in to skis. We had all day to do this very short mission so we made sure to really enjoy the views the whole way along the ridgeline. Golden always looks so beautiful up here!

Once we began the ascent to the summit, the rocks were a little looser, and we took our time balancing up the final steep hill. At the top, I left my bag and skis to go tag the true summit since I hadn’t been before, and then rejoined Neva for our little picnic.

We thought the idea of a “Charcut-ski” was really funny, so we’d packed a collection of cheeses, crackers, jams and fruit to lay out on Neva’s ski. We also brought with us the Golden local Whitetooth beers which had our ski line printed on the side. Neither of us even like beer though so it was a struggle to get those down (lol)!

Looking back towards Golden

There’s our line in the distance!

Getting STOKEEDDD

Looks so intimidating though lol.

After our quick picnic, it was time to get NAKEY hahahahahahah! We waited for a group of guys to leave who seemed a LITTLE too curious whether we were skiing naked or not, and then undressed in the wind. Neva and I have been skinny dipping before, but usually when I’m naked outside I get right into the water. It felt really strange strapping into ski boots. We packed all our layers into our bags and at this point we were both giggling in nervous anticipation.

Neva led the way, dropping in and making some tiny turns, then straight lined it through the thin section that was barely as wide as our skis length wise. She whooped and hollered the whole way, and I laughed at the pure joy we were feeling on this mountain.

Next it was my turn, and of course Neva was filming since this is the steepest and thinnest ski line I’ve ever done. Here I am doing it naked with no helmet. Am I stupid? yes. But I told myself I’ll take it slow and one turn at a time if needed. As I dropped in to the line, the snow was surprisingly soft. With it being early July, it was quite melted and to my surprise it was really easy to ski.

When I reached the narrow section, I noticed in the last second that there was a fairly large rock sticking right out of the middle of it. My plans to side slip were suddenly out the window, so I turned my skis straight down the hill and let out a little scream as I flew past it. Whew!! Now just easy cruising to the end of the line. I connected all the turns after this, and found myself laughing hysterically as my boobies jiggled on every bump and turn. Turns out skiing naked it really, really funny HAHA!!

As much as I will show the internet of the “nakey” haha

This headband Neva gave me says “SEND IT JERRY” lol

Back on the ridgeline and still on a high from how much fun it was, we took some mandatory(?) photos because at heart we’re all just influencers right? Kidding, it’s fun to look back on these photos for memories 🙂

Speaking of memories – this was probably one of the highlights of my year, and I’ll look back on this day with big smiles for ever and ever!!

🍑 we did it!
